I recently finished this painting, entitled Multiple Drafts (acrylic on corner canvas, 24 x 12 inches). The title refers to a theory of consciousness by Daniel Dennett
. Although it’s hard to tell in the online image, this piece consists of perhaps a dozen layers of marks each separated by a thin, glossy glaze layer. Some of the areas that “pop” the most are in fact the most deeply buried physically in the paint layers.
